Yum!

It has been a grey, rainy day today and we haven't had any motivation to go out.  We've gotten some chores done, hung out with a movie and I baked some peanut butter cookies.

I wish that I could take credit for all of this deliciousness by declaring that they are an old family recipe passed down through the generations.  Instead, I got the recipe from a site called www.allrecipes.ca (also available as allrecipes.com).  If you are looking for a really good cookie recipe that even amateur bakers (like me) can do here is the link Click here

This site is full of recipes for just about everything that have been posted by members so you know they have been tried by real people.  I also love to check out the comments section of each recipe too because commenters often leave tips about substitutions/additions that make it even better and comment on parts of the preparation that they may have had trouble with.  All very helpful!

As a matter of fact, yesterday I made the onion bread recipe that I got from this site (here it is).  I was so eager to cut into it that I didn't think to take a picture so here is the pic from the site

This bread is always a hit in this household and is a definite "keeper".  There is finely diced onion in the dough itself so I don't always put the onion slices on the top.  I find that they tend to burn easily and, more often than not, they end up being taken off anyway.

I'm afraid that I'm not an inventive enough cook to make up my own recipes for sharing but I'm happy to pass along ones that we fall in love with.

Do you have a favourite site or cookbook that you go to for recipes?

  1. My late husband was a french chef. I miss him and his cooking because I hate it. I used to bake but if I do it now, I'd eat it and I'm losing weight now. Those peanut butter cookies look delicious. Noooooooooo!
