What I really want to scream out loud is…….
Grow up!!
No, not to my kids; they’re doing that far too quickly
already.
I want to scream it at my ex and his girlfriend who can’t
seem to figure out how to resolve the issues that they are having with The
Boy. They are the adults here and need
to take the first steps. He’s willing to
try; now they just have to step up……... (yeah, I’m a little stressed about
this; can you tell?) This is getting dangerously
close to bad-mouthing (or perhaps even a toe over the line) so I’ll step away
from this one now……. quietly backing away……
I want to scream it at the celebrities and quasi-celebrities
who behave like juvenile delinquents with booze, drugs, lewd acts and just
plain disrespectful behavior. Unfortunately,
as long as we, as a society, keep on giving them attention and making excuses
for them, their behavior will not change.
I mean, really, Rob Ford, Toronto’s drunken, crack-smoking mayor, was
flown to Hollywood for the Oscars and an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel! Nobody in the States would even know who he
is if it weren’t for his horrible, immature behavior.
I want to scream it at the trolls out there who think that
it’s okay to hide behind the anonymity of the internet and hurl abuse at others. I’ve seen a couple of instances of it
recently and it really boils my blood.
Don’t get me wrong, I think that the internet is a great place to
express ourselves and take part in lively discussion but when you use that as
an opportunity to judge and insult others and just generally be rude, it’s
inexcusable. If you don’t agree with
what someone has said on their blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc., a mature grown-up
has two choices: politely express your
own opinion while respecting others’ right to express theirs or just walk
away. There is a place for everybody on
the internet. If you don’t like what
you’re reading, one simple mouse click takes it out of your sight. I promise they won’t chase you!
I want to scream it at the dumbasses on the road, who should
never have been issued licenses, who believe that they are King of the
Road. Pedestrians have the right of way
and are no competition for a couple of thousand pounds of steel. Please be mature and don’t make us play
chicken with you. It’s a game we can’t
possibly win.
Let’s all be mature grown-ups, play nicely with each other
and be good role models. It’s really not
all that hard.
Kat
Amen! Honestly, there's not much else to say, as you covered it quite well. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa and thank you for stopping by :)
DeleteLove it. I would like to yell a few things too. The celebrity thing makes me the most upset. It's so hard to watch this and know that there are kids who are idolizing these people and this is how they choose to act. (Miley, Justin Beiber, Lindsey Lohan) Just plain sad!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how often I talk back to my tv or mutter curses under my breath as I read articles about come of these people. If I see any of those people you named (and a few others) on the cover of a magazine, I won't even buy it.
DeleteUgh, I hear you on the internet trolls- they REALLY get my blood boiling. Grow up!!!
ReplyDeleteAmen sister!
DeleteYES to Grow UP! Already. Sorry your ex's girl is such a jerk and OMG to the internet trolls. Grow UP!
ReplyDeleteWell, she's not usually a jerk there seems to be enough blame to go around so I'm trying not to finger any one person. I just want them all to get their act together…..
DeleteThankfully the trolls haven't found me yet and I'd really like to keep it that way….sh, don't tell them where I am!
Perfect, Kat. You are so right and I hope karma is paying attention. I'm so sick of the people who think it's everyone else's responsibility to take care of them and that they are the center of the world. Welcome aboard!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Jennifer. If more people were able to put themselves in the other person's "shoes", it would solve so much
DeleteKat, I think you're on to something here. Seriously. People just need to think before acting. That's all. A little thought would make everything a bit nicer!
ReplyDeleteI think that some people need a 10 second delay like they do for live tv programs so that "bleeps" can be added if necessary, lol!
DeleteSo far so good for my on the "anonymous" internet trolls. I have to laugh that the one quasi-negative comment I've ever gotten was about a recipe I posted and came from the son of a friend. Hey, to each his own. ;) Soooooooo true about celebrities. I know they're "people" and are allowed to have issues, but it's awful to see kids emulating those behaviors! And welcome to #FTSF!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! I've been pretty lucky when it comes to trolls too but I have seen some pretty nasty stuff out there.
DeleteI know that these celebreties live under a microscope which can be a lot of pressure but still….
You go girl!!! It is too true what your wrote about the world falling too easily to the thrill of creating havoc just for sh*ts and giggles. Rob Ford got rewarded for his bad behaviour. I just don't get how he can allow himself to be humiliated and ridiculed like that on live TV. One would think to say to him: "Hey, Rob, maybe that isn't such a good idea. Better to let the dust settle first? Eh? What do ya say Rob?". As for the hurling of insults over the internet; well, I am there right with you! I often wonder if they were standing face to face, would they still say what they easily can type? Probably not. Assault is illegal. I think we should call them on it. Recently, I had received a nasty comment on my Facebook page from someone who really doesn't know me, yet, he had an opinion on my post that had nothing to do with what I wrote, so I "corrected" him. haven't heard from him since. Public humiliation is effective at times like that. And there is always the "block" option that I have used many times! As for Justin Beiber: JUDGE JUDY ripped him a new one on ABC in Los Angeles recently, saying quote: "Being a celebrity is a gift. You can either treat it reverently or you can make a fool out of yourself, and he’s doing a very good job of making a fool out of himself.” Judge Judy said Bieber’s behaviour and recent arrests in Miami Beach and Toronto are nothing to laugh about.
ReplyDeleteI hope he heard that!! As for you Kath...I am sending you many strong and soothing hugs. Use them at will, and remember, if you ever need more, just ask. ♥
You and I are totally on the same page sister (in law)! Hugs are always welcome ;)
DeleteAddendum: Kathy, you are an amazing person, who has great values that you are passing along to your children. That will be 2 more wonderful people who contribute to our society. Thank you! Unfortunately, there will always be idiots on the road and in the line ups at Wally-world or on line. They just make the really good people (like you) shine that much brighter! Don't change!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteNow you're just gonna make me cry…..thank you.
DeleteLove you! XO
