I recently read a blog post by a young blogger named Gwen that I follow who had just read The Book of Awesome and posted her own list of awesome things. I thought that was a great idea and told her that she had inspired me to come up with my own list. I’m sure that I’ve done similar posts in the past but figure that it’s time for an update. That’s the great thing about “awesome”; it evolves.
In keeping with the spirit of the book, here is my list of everyday things that are small and seemingly ordinary but awesomely good.
-my first cup of tea in the morning
-opening a new book to page one in anticipation of all that is to come
-reading the last page of a good book, having enjoyed the journey
-the smell of baking bread
-watching the snow fall
-the fact that it’s not dark yet when I’m travelling home after work now
-lying in bed, listening to the soft snores of my kids in the next room
-my co-worker’s squeaky laugh when something amuses her
-the look The Girl gives me when she knows she’s being goofy
-homemade ice cream
-Easter chocolate (yep, tis the season!)
-the sound of a friend’s voice when you need it most
-movies with my kids
-hearing a great song and singing like nobody’s listening
What would be in your Book of Awesome?
Kat
Great list. I'd add hearing a great song for the first time. Watching a video that brings tears to my eyes, and the sound of rain on my tin roof.
ReplyDeleteOoh, those are good ones! I love the sound of rain too although I'm not lucky enough to have the added acoustics of a tin roof
DeleteMy first sip of coffee is first.
ReplyDelete2-the second sip
3-the 3rd
4-the fourth
5-...you get my drift!
LOL! Sounds like me with my tea :)
DeleteAwesome! I used to love those grapefruit cups until I noticed how much sugar there was in one serving :os
ReplyDeleteYou're right, they do have added sugar but I figure that I would be sprinkling sugar on a freshly cut grapefruit anyway. I tend to treat them as treats anyway so I don't feel too bad about eating them ;)
DeleteCoffee, the sounds of my baby girls on the phone, and hearing "I Love You" from them and my son. Love your list. I've missed you.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see you too Barb! I hope that you are feeling better now that you're settled back in at home after your trip.
Delete"I love you" is definitely one of life's little things that make us smile and caffeine seems to be on most people's lists :)
Awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gwen :)
DeleteI think having an old favorite song come on the radio is one of mine. =) Great list!
ReplyDeleteThat's when you turn up the volume and sing!
DeleteWhat a fun idea! I share many of the ones that are on your list. I love when someone I have been thinking about calls or emails me "out of the blue." Thanks for sharing your awesomeness!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly one of my favourites. There is nothing like a friendly voice when you're feeling a bit stressed. Thanks for stopping by :)
Delete- Good hugs! In general, but especially from my nephews.
ReplyDelete- The first spring flowers: crocus, daffodils, lilacs.
- The sound it makes when I wear high heels (since I'm usually in tennis shoes).
Nice blog! (Found you via The Bloggess.)
Thank you! Hugs are always welcome and I have to admit that I can't help smiling when I see those first flowers. I can't wear heels but have to agree that they make everything sexier :)
